In heavy industry, a failed operator control can stop a crane, a mill line or a mining machine just as surely as a failed engine. J.R. Merritt Controls is betting that the answer is a joystick that is tough enough not to fail often, and simple enough to repair on the spot when it does.
The Connecticut-based company has added the Merritt REVOXL to its line of heavy-duty joysticks. It is built from steel and engineered and assembled in the USA, for demanding environments ranging from steel mills and mines to forests and ports.
Designed for serviceability
The REVOXL’s main features are practical ones:
- in-field serviceability, for simple maintenance and minimal downtime;
- a leather boot to keep out dust, dirt and moisture;
- compatibility with both step and stepless AC and DC drives, so it can replace existing controls across a wide range of industrial applications;
- proportional control with custom first-point and high-speed detents.
For maintenance managers, compatibility is the key point. A single joystick model that fits different drive types reduces the number of spare parts on the shelf and simplifies replacement on older equipment.
