The expanded Kalmar facility gives Epiroc a larger, more automated base for hydraulic attachment manufacturing, following the consolidation of its European production in Sweden.
Epiroc has inaugurated an expanded manufacturing facility for hydraulic attachment tools in Kalmar, Sweden, in a move that brings the company’s full hydraulic breaker range into a single European production center.
The site, now covering more than 8,000 square meters, is designed as a highly automated and scalable manufacturing hub. For Epiroc, the expansion reflects a broader decision to consolidate European production of hydraulic attachment tools in Sweden, with the aim of creating a more efficient operation and increasing capacity.
Hydraulic breakers remain a core tool across several heavy-duty applications. Mounted on excavators, they are used by contractors and operators in construction, demolition, quarrying, mining and infrastructure projects. Bringing production together in one facility may help Epiroc streamline manufacturing across a product range that spans from the compact SB 52 breaker to the HB 10 000, the largest model in its breaker portfolio.
For customers, the practical relevance lies in production continuity and access to a complete range of attachments from one manufacturing base. For dealers and fleet operators, hydraulic attachments are not secondary equipment: they directly affect excavator utilization, jobsite productivity and the ability to adapt machines to different applications.
The Kalmar expansion also adds employment at the site. Around 175 people now work at the facility, including about 40 positions added as a result of the expansion.
Epiroc President and CEO Helena Hedblom framed the investment as part of the company’s long-term support for its attachment customers:
“This expanded production capacity of high-quality hydraulic attachments strengthens our long-term commitment to our customers across the world. The new top-modern facility truly represents production in world class”
Hedblom said.
The inauguration marks the completion of a manufacturing shift that centralizes Epiroc’s European hydraulic attachment tool production in Sweden. With the full breaker range now produced at the expanded Kalmar site, the company is positioning the facility as a larger and more integrated base for serving construction, demolition, quarrying, mining and infrastructure markets worldwide.
