The Northern Irish washing equipment maker gets a dedicated distributor for Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, with parts and service included rather than promised

CDE, the Northern Irish manufacturer of wet processing systems for sand and aggregates, has appointed Maverick Environmental Equipment as its partner across three midwestern US states: Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Maverick will supply CDE’s full range and, importantly, the parts and service behind it.

That last part is what distinguishes this from a sales agreement. Wash plants are not machines a customer buys and forgets: they run continuously, wear consumables, and stop production when they stop. A distributor that stocks parts and fields service crews is a different proposition from one that only closes deals.

Why these three states

CDE ties the move to demand. The three states are seeing sustained investment in roads and bridges, alongside residential development and data centre construction, all of which consume sand and aggregates. At the same time, the company points to depleting resources, which pushes producers toward washing equipment that recovers saleable material from what would previously have been waste.

“This is a crucial time for the sand and aggregates industry in the Midwest,” says Ronan Duffy at CDE. “With resources depleting, demand for construction materials is continuing to grow, and there is a real reliance on materials suppliers across these states.”

That is the underlying economics of wet processing: when good deposits get scarcer, the value of washing marginal material rises. Demand for the equipment tends to follow the quality of what is left in the ground, not just the volume of construction.

Who Maverick is

Maverick Environmental Equipment, celebrating its tenth year in business, supplies machinery for environmental applications: aggregate processing, waste, recycling, forestry and biomass. It grew out of a group with more than twenty years in the equipment industry.

“When we started Maverick in 2016 it was our goal to be the best in the business in distribution and support, and to do that you need to work with true innovators,” said John O’Neill, CEO of Maverick Environmental Equipment.

George Bennett, the company’s COO, frames what the addition does to its offering: “CDE is the global standard in wet processing and adding them to our line lets Maverick give customers a true start-to-finish material processing solution, not just equipment, but the engineering, parts, and service behind it.”

What producers get

For an aggregate producer in those states, the practical change is the flowsheet. Buying crushing from one supplier and washing from another means two service relationships and two parts inventories to chase when a plant stops. A distributor covering crushing through washing shortens that chain.

The partnership follows CDE’s launch earlier this year of ModaLine, a range of containerised sand washing plants designed for plug-and-play installation, which suits a market where producers want capacity quickly rather than a bespoke build.
