The 11th edition at Tokyo Big Sight groups 11 specialised shows, from building materials to digital construction and jobsite innovation
For foreign suppliers, Japan’s construction and building market is large, demanding and notoriously hard to enter without local partners. JAPAN BUILD Tokyo positions itself as one way in. The 11th edition, organised by RX Japan, runs at Tokyo Big Sight from December 2 to 4, 2026, and expects 35,000 visitors from the building, construction and real estate sectors.
Eleven shows under one roof
The event is split into 11 specialised exhibitions: Building Material and Equipment Expo, Smart Home Expo, Housing DX Expo, Green Building Expo, Building Renovation Expo, Smart Building Expo, Building Maintenance Expo, Construction Site Innovation Expo, Digital Construction Expo, Real Estate Tech Expo and Apartment Management Support Expo.
For HeavyQuip readers, the Construction Site Innovation and Digital Construction expos are the most relevant, reflecting how Japanese contractors are investing in jobsite technology and digitalisation.
The previous edition drew 33,618 visitors and 548 exhibitors. According to the organisers, 51.2% of visitors held manager-level positions or above, and they included homebuilders, architects, renovation firms, general contractors, developers, distributors, property owners and government agencies.
Built for newcomers
The show is explicitly pitched at overseas companies. Japanese distributors and trading companies attend to source new products and partners, and international exhibitors can use business matching, a hosted buyer programme and interpreter services.
“For companies looking to grow in Japan, that combination is hard to find elsewhere,” said Bunta Koyasu, show director of JAPAN BUILD Tokyo, referring to the mix of focused exhibitions and a broad industry audience in one venue.
A free conference programme of around 60 sessions covers AI and digital transformation, smart buildings and homes, facility management and maintenance, decarbonisation and workforce reform, a pressing issue in a country facing a shrinking construction labour force. Visitor registration is free.
