Liebherr’s new rope-suspended leader configuration with the H 10 hydraulic hammer is designed to broaden the use of cranes in jobsites where operational flexibility, pile access and noise reduction are key factors.
Liebherr is expanding its offering for pile-driving applications with a rope-suspended leader combined with the H 10 hydraulic hammer. The solution enables free-standing piles to be driven both vertically and at an inclination, without necessarily requiring a dedicated piling rig. The use of cranes as carrier machines extends the field of application of the equipment, while the H 10 hammer introduces technical features focused on noise reduction and the transfer of impact energy to the pile.
The rope-suspended leader with H 10 hydraulic hammer was developed for jobsites where the flexibility of the carrier machine can influence work planning. It can be installed on various types of cranes, including duty cycle machines, allowing it to adapt to equipment already available on site. This configuration makes it possible to work on piles positioned at greater distances or behind obstacles, a common requirement in marine and port construction.
The leader and hammer have a combined weight of 27 tonnes and are positioned directly above the pile before operations begin. The configuration is designed for piles weighing up to 30 tonnes, with a maximum diameter of 1,220 millimetres and an inclination of up to 1:3.
Noise, Efficiency and Integration with Existing Machines
The H 10 hydraulic hammer uses a modular weight system that allows it to be adapted to different piling conditions. The maximum weight of the hammer system is 10 tonnes. According to Liebherr, the sound power level of four H 10 hydraulic hammers operating simultaneously is equivalent to that of a single conventional hammer without noise-reduction systems, a relevant factor for jobsites subject to noise restrictions or located near sensitive areas.
In addition to its noise-reduction-oriented configuration, the H 10 hammer claims an efficiency rate of 95% in transferring impact energy to the pile. The model can also be used with Liebherr LRB and LRH series piling rigs.
A further aspect is the possibility of using carrier machines already available to the customer, reducing the need for dedicated equipment for each application. For third-party machines, Liebherr provides a stand-alone control system. The model was presented in June 2026 as part of the 50th anniversary of Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH and is now available.
