At PowerFest in Northern Ireland, the mobile screening pioneer pointed to its alumni and distributors as its widest legacy
Powerscreen has spent its 60th anniversary year telling a different story at each stage. At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 it was about innovation. At Hillhead 2026, heritage. In Dungannon, Northern Ireland, it was about people.
What happened
The event, called PowerFest, was held at the brand’s manufacturing centre of excellence. It brought together employees, retirees, distributors, suppliers, customers and local residents for factory tours, school visits, live music, family activities and charity fundraising.
The anniversary year began at CONEXPO, where Powerscreen showed its latest crushing and screening developments. At Hillhead it focused on heritage, including the restoration of the original MK1 mobile screening machine and a Hall of Fame induction for people who shaped the business.
The idea that built a brand
Powerscreen began as Ulster Plant Ltd in County Tyrone in 1966. Its founding idea was to bring the machine to the material, rather than moving material to a fixed processing plant. Early machines such as the MK1 made mobile screening a commercial reality, and later platforms including the Chieftain and Warrior became benchmarks for performance and versatility.
“While Powerscreen is known globally for pioneering mobile screening, our greatest contribution may well be the people who developed their skills here and went on to influence the wider industry,” said Sean Loughran, Business Line Director. Many former employees, he said, went on to found dealerships, engineering businesses and manufacturing companies.
A network built on alumni
The same applies to its global distribution network, which the company describes as one of the strongest in the sector. Many distributor businesses were founded or led by people whose careers began at Powerscreen. For buyers of crushing and screening plant, that translates into dealers with deep application knowledge.
Since joining Terex Corporation in 1999, Powerscreen has continued to invest in manufacturing, engineering and workforce development, including new global offices in Dungannon and work on automation, digital manufacturing, training and skills. Anniversary celebrations continue into early 2027, when it will bring together its global distribution network.
