Epiroc AB has completed the acquisition of the business of Eventspec Proprietary Limited, a South African mining aftermarket solutions provider. The company manufactures parts for drill rigs, mine trucks and loaders, and provides related rebuilds, repairs and services.

Eventspec is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The company, with more than two decades of industry experience, has around 125 employees and had revenues in 2025 of around MZAR 280 (MSEK 160) and has clients in the South African mining market.

The acquisition was announced on March 9, 2026 by Epiroc:

“This acquisition will be a strong and strategic addition to our manufacturing capabilities and expand our product portfolio of spare parts and related services in the growing and important African region and beyond,”

Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO had stated,

“We look forward to welcoming the capable team at Eventspec to the Epiroc Group.”

The acquisition will be part of the Equipment & Service Business Area, and booked under the Service revenue stream. Eventspec brings Epiroc a broader set of in-house engineering capabilities. The South African company has in-house design and manufacturing expertise covering turnkey solutions, specialised machining, fabrication, final assembly and reverse engineering. Its workshops total 4,700 m², made up of 3,500 m² plus 1,200 m², and include CNC equipment, conventional lathes, milling machines, fabrication capacity and dedicated assembly areas for underground drill rig booms and trackless mobile machinery rebuilds.

Eventspec’s aftermarket focus also extends to complete rebuilds of underground drill rigs, bolters and loaders, as well as drivetrain component rebuilds for trackless mobile machinery. The company says this work is aimed at helping mining customers maintain reliability, performance and productivity across the engineered lifecycle of their machines.

The acquisition also gives Epiroc additional capability in drill rig boom rebuilds and manufacturing. Eventspec says it provides maintenance programmes for underground drilling operations and has experience rebuilding and manufacturing alternative booms for selected Epiroc and Sandvik drill rig models.
