The patented attachment regenerates damaged road surfaces on site, reusing 100% of the existing material

Small patches of damaged asphalt are one of the most frequent jobs in road maintenance, and one of the most wasteful: milled material is removed, hauled away and replaced with new mix. Simex’s ART 1000 takes a different route. The patented technology regenerates the bituminous conglomerate cold and directly on site, reusing all of the material already in place without removing milled material or adding new aggregates.

The Italian attachment manufacturer will show ART 1000 at Ecomondo 2026, the green and circular economy trade fair in Rimini, Italy, from 3 to 6 November.

Where it fits

ART is designed for functional maintenance of road surfaces at depths between 30 and 60 mm. According to Simex, the process does not disrupt traffic and the road can be driven on immediately after the repair. The company says the repair lasts long enough for local authorities to plan their maintenance programmes, with benefits for road safety.

The ART 1000 has a working width of 1,000 mm and a working depth range of 0 to 100 mm. It requires an oil flow of 115 to 152 l/min and can be mounted on mini excavators, excavators, skid steer loaders, front loaders and backhoe loaders.

Why it matters

For road maintenance contractors and municipal fleets, the benefits Simex lists are practical: a smaller, faster-moving work zone, cost savings, and no handling or disposal of special materials or waste. Because the attachment runs on carriers that most contractors already own, it can be added to an existing fleet rather than requiring a dedicated paving machine.
