Volvo Connect, a new fleet management portal from Volvo Trucks North America, is intended to give fleets near real-time data on the health and performance of their trucks in operation.
The new system is a digital suite of state-of-the-art services, analytics, and reports that deliver a range of data such as fuel consumption, seat belt use, idle time, vehicle speed, and location. Volvo Connect gives companies easier access to information that ensures their fleet is working at maximum efficiency and profitability.
“We developed Volvo Connect because customers were asking for a central portal to easily access important information about their truck,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president, Volvo Trucks North America. “Volvo Connect provides our customers with valuable data on the trucks in their fleets with a focus on operational efficiency and providing valuable information related to driver performance. Safety and sustainability are core values for Volvo Trucks and are critical in our journey toward zero emissions. We’re confident Volvo Connect will be a great service for our customers on their own safety and sustainability journeys.”
Fleet managers can access the status of all Volvo trucks in their fleet equipped with a factory-installed 4G telematics gateway. This provides owners the ability to monitor parameters such as maximum allowed road speed and correctly set idle shutdown, ensuring trucks are fully optimized. Remote diagnostics and programming capability is also part of the Volvo Connect offering, making it easier to identify trucks that have faults needing to be addressed or needed over-the-air software updates.
Reports from the system are easily exportable and allow managers to analyze trends and reveal key performance metrics that can improve efficiency and compliance.
Remote diagnostics allows fleets to monitor specific data streams and proactively expedite repairs or maintenance when needed. Customers can see fault codes, keep a history of cases created through Remote Diagnostics, and easily review records through the Volvo Connect portal. Maintenance and repairs can be scheduled through the ASIST service management platform when it is convenient for the driver, aiding in maximizing uptime.
Volvo Connect also offers location services built-in, providing location, historical route data, travel speed, fuel level, truck restrictions, and traffic data.
“The Volvo Connect portal provides fleets with a deeper analysis of their truck data and not just a high-level scan,” said Magnus Gustafson, vice president of connected services, Volvo Trucks North America. “We will continuously add more features, reports, and truck insights to provide fleet managers with the information needed to make effective, data-based decisions about their fleet.”
