The BX07 and BX08 integrate blade, grade control and machine controls on the 333 and 335 P-Tier, while a new fire suppression option targets high-debris work
Finish grading has long been a job for dozers and motor graders, or for a skilled operator with a lot of patience. John Deere is betting that more of it can now be done with a compact track loader. The company has introduced the BX07 and BX08 SmartGrade Box Blade attachments, built specifically for its 333 and 335 P-Tier compact track loaders.
The key point is integration. Rather than pairing a third-party box blade with an aftermarket grade control kit, the new attachments combine John Deere-designed hardware, SmartGrade technology and the machine’s own controls into a single system.
Grade control on the loader
The BX07 and BX08 are aimed at finish grading. They are available now with 2D and laser SmartGrade capability, with full 3D capability expected in the near future, so contractors can match the level of technology to the job.
The hardware is designed for changing site conditions. Hydraulically actuated flip-up front wheels and adjustable wheel height add flexibility, a recessed valve block helps keep the operator’s view clear, and a heavy-duty box with edge protection is built for demanding grading work.
For contractors, the appeal is fleet utilisation. A compact track loader that can handle precise grading as well as its usual loading and material handling tasks can reduce the need to bring a dedicated grading machine to smaller sites.
“Customers continue to look for new ways to improve their operations and performance while also maximizing their overall jobsite productivity,” said Emily Pagura, product marketing manager at John Deere. “Our new SmartGrade Box Blade attachments for the compact track loader lineup expand customer capabilities through precision technology that speeds up the grading process with accuracy.”
Fire protection for high-debris work
Alongside the box blades, John Deere is adding a fire suppression system for its large-frame skid steers and compact track loaders. The machine-integrated package includes a 20 lb tank and a compact control panel, and it is designed for customers working in high-debris applications.
These are jobs such as land clearing, forestry mulching and recycling, where dust and organic material can build up around hot engine components.
With 3D capability still to come, the BX07 and BX08 are a first step. They also point to a wider trend in compact equipment: grade control, once reserved for larger earthmoving machines, is moving into the attachment itself.
