Epiroc’s PowerROC family of surface drill rigs has added a new, updated generation with improved capabilities. The PowerROC T35 is engineered to offer both increased fuel efficiency and faster operations for quarries and construction applications.

“We are very excited to launch an updated version of this highly regarded surface drill rig,” says Masanori Kogushi, senior product manager of Epiroc’s Surface division. “This new generation PowerROC T35 is our most fuel-efficient PowerROC rig ever.”

Improved fuel consumption with higher production

The new generation PowerROC T35’s fuel consumption is up to 40 percent lower compared to the previous PowerROC T35 rig. This is due to the auto engine speed control, which enables automatic optimization of engine speed for all operations. The PowerROC T35 has improved production with a 45 percent speed increase for changing rods compared to the previous version, which decreases the total time to finish the hole.

Operational data in the updated PowerROC T35 is presented to the operator via a 12-inch touch screen. The intuitive display makes the rig easier to run, and will help speed up the training of new operators, says the company. Assisted control reduces the amount of lever operations required by 20 percent compared to the current version.

Easy and convenient maintenance

Service points are easily accessible, and a troubleshoot function is built into the touch-screen display of the new rig.  A new hydraulic return filter is included, which reduces the amount of hydraulic oil that is required by 50 percent. Longer service intervals will help to lower the total cost of ownership.

The new PowerROC T35 is equipped with a COPSC19 rock drill, featuring a frequency of 50 Hz which gives the new rig higher performance in hard rock conditions. The SC19 rock drill is also fitted with a dual damper which helps to improve energy efficiency during drilling.
