Pettibone has released its new Extendo 1044X telehandler, a machine that provides up to 10,000 pounds of load capacity without the need for outriggers. Not requiring outriggers significantly reduces maintenance requirements and enhances operational speed for users in construction, masonry, and rental applications, says the company.

The new telehandler is powered by a 74-hp Deutz Tier 4 Final diesel engine that features a DOC muffler and requires no diesel exhaust fluid. Mounted on a side pod, the engine offers easy service access while allowing excellent curbside visibility. The telehandler delivers maximum lift capacity of 10,000 pounds and a maximum lift height of 44 feet 6 inches. The elimination of outriggers results in faster setup times and improved maneuverability on the job site. It also reduces the number of components that need regular maintenance, thereby cutting down service time and costs. According to Pettibone, these efficiency gains are complemented by lifting performance that allows the Extendo 1044X to compare favorably with competitive outrigger-equipped units in the same weight class.

Three-section boom gives greater strength and accuracy

The 1044X features a three-section boom composed of formed plates that offer greater strength while reducing weight. Boom deflection is minimized for better accuracy when placing loads. Abundant boom overlap provides smooth operation and reduces contact forces on wear pads, thereby extending service life. A bottom-mounted external extend cylinder further reduces the load on wear pads.

Hydraulics with smooth controllability

Pettibone’s hydraulics deliver excellent controllability and smooth operating feel, while enhancing efficiency and cycle speeds, says the company. Cylinder cushioning dampens extending and retracting strokes to avoid the wear and tear of hard, jarring stops, while also helping prevent the potential spilling of a load. A single lift cylinder improves operator sightlines and has twin non-tensioned hydraulic lines for tilt and auxiliary plumbing. The Extendo 1044X comes standard with X-Command, a Pettibone telematics program that offers real-time access to machine data, saving time and money for equipment owners and service technicians.

Drivetrain and axles of the new machine have been optimized to provide greater tractive effort with minimal tradeoff on top end speed. A pintle hitch mount adds versatility for towing. Built for use on rough terrain, the unit offers full-time four-wheel-drive with limited-slip front axle differential. Tight steer angle capability provides an efficient turning radius of 14 feet 4 inches. The Dana VDT12000 Powershift transmission offers three speeds, forward, and reverse.

All-steel fuel and hydraulic tanks are built to resist damage. The 30-gallon fuel tank offers ample volume for a full day’s work, and the lockable fuel-fill is in a clean, accessible location. Other features include non-tensioned boom hoses, split-system electrical circuit panels, and heavy-duty bright LED lighting. Additional options include a sling hook for additional load security and a wide variety of attachments.
