Wacker Neuson introduced the first reversible plate in 1973. Now, the manufacturer continues the tradition of innovation with the perfect combination of high forward and reverse speeds on its BPU/DPU 52-62 Series.
Wacker Neuson’s line of medium-weight reversible plates now includes the Honda gas-powered BPU5260 and BPU6275 and Hatz diesel-powered DPU5260 and DPU6275.
Compared to previous models, these newly redesigned plates feature 30 per cent more gradeability, 20 per cent greater forward travel speed, an open baseplate design and lower Hand Arm Vibration (HAV).
Weighing 300 kg to 510 kg, the plate compactors have been specially developed for the requirements of trench and surface compaction and deliver efficient and precise compaction of different soil types and structures.
“With the new placement of the exciter, the forward travel speed of these large, hard-hitting plates rivals our own single-direction WP1550,” said Luke Sevcik, Product Training and Application Specialist.
“The 62 series model nearly matches the compaction performance of our 5-ton RC50 soil compaction roller.”

To increase productivity, the new BPU/DPU models feature a modern and ergonomic user interface that makes work easier, including a handle that adjusts in height to accommodate operators of different size. The low hand-arm vibration values (< 2.5 m/s²) ensure a more comfortable work experience and help to increase machine utilization and employee productivity.
Direction of travel is controlled hydraulically and is completely maintenance-free. The innovative open base plate design promotes easy cleaning of all components. As well, operators can change direction by simply turning the handle, allowing them to always keep both hands on the machine, without having to manage additional buttons or cranks.
The forward and reverse speeds are infinitely variable.
The basic DPU 5260 and DPU6275 machines are offered with many standard features, including on-board diagnostics through LED display, compatibility with Wacker Neuson diagnostics 2.0, a control panel showing machine function start and stop by push button-electric start with key-on and an hour meter.
Wacker Neuson Compatec compaction meter, Compamatic site manager and a nylon paver pad for paver protection and plate dampening are available as options.
