The 80-tonne SK650DLC-11 delivers up to 28.2 metres of reach, four front configurations and tool capacity up to 6,100 kg

With the introduction of the new SK650DLC-11, Kobelco Construction Machinery U.S.A. now offers five purpose-built demolition excavators.

The SK650DLC-11 high-reach demolition excavator is engineered to deliver the reach, power, versatility and transportability required for demanding demolition applications.

It joins Kobelco’s growing lineup of purpose-built demolition machines, which includes the SK350D and SK1300D high-reach excavators and the SK300 and SK350 straight-boom models.

“By combining multiple front configurations with a shared main boom, a variable undercarriage and features designed to simplify assembly and transportation, contractors can configure the machine around the demands of the job rather than compromise between reach, tool capacity and mobility.”

The new SK650DLC-11 is powered by a 463-hp Isuzu Tier 4 Final engine and combines multiple boom and arm configurations with a hydraulic variable undercarriage, a demolition-specific tilting cab and an attachment connection system designed to simplify setup and transport.

In its maximum high-reach configuration, the SK650DLC-11 provides up to 28.2 metres of pin height with a 3,700-kg tool.

For applications requiring increased tool capacity, separate boom configurations can accommodate tools weighing up to 6,100 kg.

The SK650DLC-11 has an operating weight of about 80 tonnes and is engineered for efficient disassembly and transportation between jobsites. With the counterweight removed, the base machine weighs approximately 49.5 tonnes, helping simplify transportation and machine setup.

Four front configurations

At the heart of the SK650DLC-11 is a multi-configuration attachment system that allows both a separate digging boom and a three-piece high-reach attachment to be used on a single base machine through a shared main boom.

An insert boom is compatible with both configurations, giving contractors four front arrangements:

  • Separate digging boom: 15.2-metre pin height with a maximum 6,100-kg tool
  • Separate digging boom + insert boom: 18.2-metre pin height with a maximum 6,100-kg tool
  • Three-piece high-reach attachment: 25.2-metre pin height with a maximum 3,700-kg tool
  • Three-piece high-reach attachment + insert boom: up to 28.2-metre pin height with a maximum 3,700-kg tool

Kobelco’s separate boom design incorporates a two-piece structure with an additional articulation point, providing increased flexibility in positioning the attachment and supporting overhead, close-range and below-ground-level demolition work.

Hydraulic variable undercarriage

The SK650DLC-11 features a newly developed hydraulic variable undercarriage engineered specifically for demolition applications.

For transportation, the undercarriage retracts to about 3.2 metres wide. At the jobsite, it hydraulically extends to about 4.2 metres, providing a wider working footprint to enhance stability during high-reach demolition and when operating heavier attachments.

The undercarriage can be extended or retracted while the machine remains on the ground. The operator controls the process from inside the cab, with no hydraulic hose reconnection or bolting required.

Faster assembly

As large demolition machines frequently move between jobsites, the SK650DLC-11 was designed to simplify assembly, disassembly and transport.

The Kobelco attachment joint system simplifies connection of the main boom and front attachment by allowing the upper pin to be hooked into position before the lower connection is secured hydraulically.

Hydraulic connections between the main boom and front attachments use a one-touch bayonet-style mechanism, allowing connections to be made without tools. The system is also designed to reduce the possibility of oil leakage caused by seal damage, helping improve reliability and reduce potential downtime during attachment changes.

The three-piece high-reach attachment also incorporates a patented cross-cylinder structure, which reduces overall height in the transport configuration and improves access during tie-down procedures.

New attachment stands serve as both storage stands and work platforms during attachment installation and removal. An optional hydraulically removable counterweight can also be removed and installed by one person, helping reduce labour requirements and the potential need for additional crane support.

Demolition cab

The SK650DLC-11 features a demolition-specific cab designed to improve visibility, operator comfort and protection during high-reach work.

A spacious interior and high-performance operator seat help reduce fatigue during extended demolition operations. Additional demolition-focused features include top and front P5A glass and Level II protection, as well as a falling-object deflector, cab interference prevention system and stability warning system.

Operator amenities include an air-suspension heated seat, air conditioning, Bluetooth hands-free radio, charging port, public address system, telematics and a large 25-cm monitor.

Purpose-built for demolition

Depending on machine configuration, added features include attachment transport and storage stands, a water spray system, electronic onboard lubrication, quick-hitch piping, boom and arm safety valves, hydraulic variable undercarriage, energy-saving eco mode, in-cab hydraulic pressure release, reversible fan and unlimited power boost mode for the separate boom attachment.

Together, the machine’s multiple front configurations, high tool capacity, hydraulic variable undercarriage, demolition-specific cab and transport-focused design provide contractors with a versatile platform capable of adapting to a broad range of building demolition applications.
