Tractor sales were off to a slow start in 2023, according to the January Flash Report from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

The largest sales segment by total units, the under 40HP tractor segment, saw January sales more than 22 percent below sales seen in January 2022. AEM says Sales in the 40HP to under 100HP segment were also down more than 6 percent for the same period. Sales in the 100HP+ segment did see some strength, up more than 22 percent for the month. Total 2WD sales were down more than 14 percent compared to January 2022.

AEM also states four-wheel-drive tractor sales also saw a drop, down 14 percent year-over-year.

While off to a slower start compared to last year, sales remain near the five-year average. AEM says monthly sales totals are lower than what was reported in 2021 and 2022.
