Operators are also assisted by a number of technology tools. Mill Assist can automatically pick an operating strategy that strikes the best balance between milling performance and operating costs, increasing performance while reducing diesel fuel and water consumption, pick wear, and CO2 emissions. Mill Assist controls engine speed automatically, depending on operator needs, and with a range of possible engine speeds the machine’s uses become broader. Lower speed ranges cut fuel use and pick wear, while upper speeds provide optimum milling patterns.
The operator can choose from three performance strategies themselves. ECO, Performance-Optimized, and Milling Pattern Quality options allow for pre-defined milling pattern quality, from coarse to very fine.
Standard on the W 150 F(i) is Level Pro Active, a precision leveling system designed specifically by Wirtgen for its cold milling machines. In addition, the machine has an improved basic configuration for the integration of 3D and laser leveling systems, and a revised Multiplex system with 3-fold scanning. All sensors and measurement values are displayed in an easy-to-read format on the control panel to maximize process efficiency.
The wear-resistant quick-change HT22 toolholder system, with the field-proven HT22 PLUS top part, combines with Generation X2 round-shank picks to help reduce toolholder wear by up to 25 percent. Customers benefit from longer pick replacement intervals and the ability to quickly and easily change picks on the construction site. A milling drum quick-change system also helps with rapid adjustment of working width and increases flexibility.
