Manitou and Gehl have entered the stand-on track loader market with the introduction of the Manitou 1050 SRT and the Gehl SRT105.

Making their debut at Equip Expo, the stand-on loaders are designed for landscapers, tree care services and equipment rental customers.

“We are excited to launch our New SRT stand-on loaders to the North American market,” said Brad Boehler, President — Manitou Group North America. “We’ve been asked to design a stand-on loader for several years, and after thorough testing and very positive customer feedback, we have a product that will shake up the industry, delivering on high performance, reliability and exclusive features only from Manitou and Gehl.”

The chassis of the 1050 SRT and SRT105 integrates the proven IdealTrax automatic track tensioning system. IdealTrax allows proper tension to be automatically applied to the stand-on loader, from start up to shut down, which in turn extends track life by 15 per cent, eliminates manual grease-gun tension adjustments in the field and provides more machine stability while operating.

Both stand-on track loaders are powered by a 23.2 hp Yanmar turbo diesel engine, with travel speeds up to 8.5 km per hour to quickly move across jobsites and fast cycle times to maximize productivity.

The radial lift arm design delivers exceptional breakout forces, with lift up to 1,725 kg and tilt up to 1,230 kg with low ground pressure needed for heavy-duty digging, grading, backfilling, dumping and more prying power.

Rated operating capacities for the SRT loaders are 476 kg at 35 per cent tipping load and 680 kg at 50 per cent tipping load with a height to hinge pin at 2.2 metres for low sided trailer loading.

The machines weigh 1,556 kg allowing for easy transportation on a trailer, leaving room and capacity for attachments.

“We’ve studied the stand-on loader market for several years, and our goal was never to be first, we wanted to offer something better and built around our customer needs,” said Nathan Ryan, Global Product Line Manager, Earthmoving Category for Manitou Group. “We listened to pain points and developed an SRT that is durable, customer centric and customizable that offers great breakout forces along with best-in-class serviceability. We are proud of our new stand-on loader design and operators will feel the difference once they put them to work.”

Attachment versatility

The loaders are equipped with a CII attachment plate compatible with most mini loader attachments while a skid steer adapter plate is available to utilize skid/track loader attachments that are already on the jobsite.

A unique feature on the SRTs is the selectable auxiliary hydraulic max flow. This allows operators to select the exact hydraulic flow required by the attachment, from 25 per cent to 100 per cent, in just a few clicks within the machine’s display menu to optimize attachment performance.

Loader exclusives

In addition to IdealTrax, the SRTs come standard with other exclusive innovations, focusing on uptime and safety. Trailer loading and steep ramps are among the highest-risk moments on a jobsite. The exclusive fold-up platform allows the operator to flip up the platform floor and guide the machine on foot at a reduced speed when loading onto trailers. This means operators no longer must stand on the equipment at steep angles while loading onto a truck bed. They can walk comfortably behind the loader at a capped speed of 2 km per hour while maintaining full joystick control over steering and boom lift.

The SRTs are also equipped with creep mode with a selectable power boost. Creep mode delivers full auxiliary hydraulic horsepower while allowing precise, millimetre-level ground speed control when powering high demand attachments. This helps the operator adjust ground speed to the application, ground slope or jobsite terrain, while maintaining full power to the attachment.

Once the ground speed is locked in, a boost can be selected to momentarily increase speed when needed.

Feedback driven

The stand-on loaders feature multiple integrated solutions created by direct feedback from landscapers and tree professionals. These include a standard integrated SRT toolbox built on the left side of the machine chassis, creating the ability to haul larger tools, hammers and grease guns inside the machine.

As well, Manitou Group has designed optional side storage bins large enough to carry diesel cans, oil, tools, bags and other accessories.

As well, a chainsaw mount that fits into a cup holder compartment allows operators to safely carry a chainsaw. Other customizable options include long tool holders to carry shovels and rakes, and a protective operator shield to add extra protection while working with high powered attachments.

“Stand-on loaders are heavily used in landscaping and tree care maintenance applications,” said Aaron Milleville, SRT Product Manager. “We wanted to create something adaptable for these industries, where operators could haul everything they need; gas cans, grease guns, oil cans, hammers, chainsaws, you name it. After working with our teams, we developed just that.”

Tool-free access

Extra attention was placed on serviceability in the new SRT design, offering tool-free quick access along with grouping system components together to optimize maintenance checks. The side and rear panels can be lifted off and removed, providing direct access to all major components. This includes a lockable electrical panel that houses all fuses, relays, and battery disconnect in one place at the rear of the machine.

A unique feature found only in the SRT is a quick-drop belly pan clean out, to easily clear all chassis debris. This feature also makes oil changes easy to perform from the top down without crawling under the loader.

Control station

The SRT operator control station features ergonomic knee padding to reduce fatigue on long trips and responsive joysticks with grip bars for operator comfort and precise control.

A high-visibility 127-mm colour screen displays all machine functions including, hour meter, fuel, selected flow auxiliary hydraulics, creep mode and IdealTrax can be controlled within the display menu. The platform is integrated with a full operator presence system, which triggers auto idle and auto stop on the machine for increased fuel efficiency.

The SRTs will be offered in Classic and Platinum packages. The main additions on the Platinum packages include HydraGlide comfort ride suspension system on the Gehl SRT105 or the Comfort Ride Control for Manitou 1050 SRT, an exclusive feature that absorbs shock for the operator and prevents the lift arm from bouncing to minimize bucket spillage.

The platinum package also includes a 14-pin connection for customers needing comprehensive attachment compatibility.
