On July 23, 2026, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. and Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore collaboration in the compact equipment business. They have now announced their first reciprocal OEM supply arrangement.
Hitachi and Yanmar to collaborate on CTL and compact excavator lines in North America
Under the partnership’s first reciprocal supply agreement, Yanmar Compact Equipment North America will supply Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas with compact track loaders manufactured in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Hitachi plans to begin selling the CTLs in North America under the LANDCROS brand in fall 2027.
Hitachi will supply compact excavators for distribution through Yanmar’s North American dealer network.
Together, these initiatives reflect the companies’ intention to leverage their complementary product portfolios, manufacturing solutions, and distribution networks. The companies will continue discussions on a broad range of collaboration opportunities while maintaining and respecting the distinctiveness of their respective brands and sales channels.
The OEMs note that delivering value to customers and dealers will remain their top priority, and they will further develop the compact equipment business to achieve sustainable growth.
Tetsuya Yamamoto, executive vice president, representative director of Yanmar Holdings, said, “Yanmar Group is committed to creating new value by addressing the challenges our customers face and contributing to a more prosperous future. We believe this collaboration represents an important opportunity to combine Yanmar’s strengths in the North American compact construction equipment market, built through our products, manufacturing expertise, and dealer network, with the strengths of Hitachi Construction Machinery to better address the needs of our customers. We see significant potential for further market expansion through the mutual supply of products beyond CTLs, and we are confident that this collaboration will enable us to deliver even greater value to our customers and dealers.
“Looking ahead, we hope to build a partnership that leverages the respective strengths of both companies to create new values together and drive long-term, sustainable growth for both organizations.”
Masafumi Senzaki, president and executive officer, Hitachi Construction Machinery, stated, “We are pleased to launch this initiative in North America, a key focus area for Hitachi Construction Machinery as the first step in our collaboration. North America’s CTL market exceeds 100,000 units in annual demand, making it the largest segment of the compact equipment market. It is especially meaningful to us to offer customers CTLs — a segment with strong growth prospects — under LANDCROS, our new corporate brand, beginning in April 2027. Under the open strategy set out in our medium-term management plan, LANDCROS 2028, we believe that co-creating new businesses and value with our partners and growing together is central to LANDCROS. By building on the strengths of both companies’ brands and sales channels, we will continue to deliver greater value to customers and dealers and drive further growth in our compact equipment business.”
