Stand FN 1016/2
At the upcoming Bauma exhibition, Steelwrist is preparing to showcase several new products aimed at enhancing excavator efficiency and versatility. As the company marks 20 years of operations, its focus remains on innovation and product development. Among the highlights are the new XTR15 and XTR23 tiltrotator models and the SQ40 automatic coupler technology. Visitors to the interactive Steelwrist stand will experience these products alongside a wide array of excavator work tools.
Reflecting the scope of new product releases, the stand will include a live demonstration with three excavators outfitted with Steelwrist equipment. Visitors will witness the third-generation XTR tiltrotators in action, along with the new SQ40 automatic coupler that introduces SQ technology to excavators under 7 tonnes. A variety of work tools will also be demonstrated to highlight the flexibility and efficiency of the Steelwrist product range.
The team is proud to welcome visitors from across the globe. Much effort has been put into building a compelling and informative stand where all product news will be showcased. The live demonstration will allow visitors to experience firsthand the benefits of an excavator equipped with Steelwrist technology.
commented Karl Serneberg, VP OEM Sales & Marketing at Steelwrist.
Continued Roll-out of the Third-Generation XTR Tiltrotators
Following the 2024 launch of the XTR20, Steelwrist will expand its third-generation tiltrotator lineup with two additional models: XTR15 (for 12–15 tonne excavators) and XTR23 (for 19–23 tonne excavators). The XTR15 features an S/SQ60 interface, while the XTR23 is compatible with S/SQ70 and S/SQ70/55 interfaces.
Both models include the same advanced features introduced with the XTR20: optimized tilt geometry, the onboard OptiLube lubrication system, and the LockSense work tool lock indication system. As with other Steelwrist tiltrotators, these models maintain a low building height and offer upgradeability from S-type to SQ-type interface.
Advanced Engineering in the XTR Series
Steelwrist’s third-generation tiltrotators incorporate cast steel components—including upper coupler, gearbox, and quick coupler—for enhanced durability while retaining a compact design. The advanced geometry and optimized cylinder placement allow for fluid motion and high torque, giving operators precise control.
Key features of the XTR series include:
- Triple-sealed, lubrication-free bearings at all main joints, offering protection against contamination.
- OptiLube – an automatic lubrication system with cartridge alerts integrated into the tiltrotator’s control system.
- LockSense – a next-generation wireless sensor system that provides secure locking confirmation through visual and audio alerts.
- Optional three-finger gripper – redesigned for improved reach and secure handling.
- Integrated high-resolution sensors for precise positioning via machine control systems (MCS).
Modular Design and Open-S Compliant SQ Interface
Steelwrist products follow the symmetrical S standard, the fastest-growing interface standard globally. The modular design allows straightforward upgrades from S to SQ without structural part replacements. On the new XTR series, changing from S to SQ can be accomplished with a simple component swap—an approach that saves time and cost for customers.
All Steelwrist SQ products comply with the Open-S industry standard, promoting compatibility across manufacturers and offering customers more flexibility when selecting machine couplers, tiltrotators, and work tools.
The XTR generation represents a significant advancement in performance and reliability. Key features such as LockSense, OptiLube, and enhanced torque performance highlight the commitment to continuous improvement. The knowledge accumulated over two decades has been instrumental in the development of these tiltrotators.
noted Markus Nilsson, CTO at Steelwrist.
Extending SQ Technology with the New SQ40 Automatic Coupler
Steelwrist has extended its SQ technology with the SQ40 automatic coupler (patent pending), designed for excavators under 7 tonnes. SQ40 enables fast changes of hydraulic work tools from within the cab—offering the same efficiency benefits as larger SQ couplers on compact machines.
The SQ40 coupler:
- Supports up to 70 l/min flow, made possible by a new coupling design offering 40% more flow area than standard 3/8″ couplings
- Features a modular design with fewer components, simplifying upgrades and improving hose routing flexibility
- Is fully compatible with S40 standard work tools, avoiding the need for costly adjustments
Two excavators fitted with SQ40 will be featured at Bauma, one with a Direct Fit X07 tiltrotator and another with a Direct Fit XR7 rotor coupler. These machines will share various work tools in live demonstrations to illustrate the system’s versatility.
After operating the SQ40 personally for over a year, it is exciting to now share this technology publicly. SQ40 makes high-efficiency work accessible to smaller excavators.
added Stefan Stockhaus, CEO at Steelwrist.

Expanding the Range of Powered Work Tools
Steelwrist’s powered work tools with the S40 interface are now also available with SQ compatibility. These include:
- HCX hydraulic compactors
- MGX multi grapples
- SGX sorting grapples
- Other powered tools relevant to compact excavation work
Additionally, a new model – MGX4 multi grapple – has been introduced for 2 to 4 tonne excavators. It bridges the gap between MGX2 and MGX6 and offers robust performance in applications ranging from timber handling to light demolition.

Introducing the TSX6 Tree Shear
Steelwrist is also expanding into a new product category with the TSX6 tree shear. Designed for excavators up to 7 tonnes, the TSX6 offers a powerful, safe solution for cutting trees, brush, and energy wood.
Key benefits of the TSX6:
- Fixed cutting blade and high-force cylinder for efficient cutting
- Optimized grapple arms for secure grip
- High-strength yet lightweight steel construction for durability
- Compatibility with both S40 and SQ40 interfaces
- Cutting capacity of up to 180mm diameter, depending on tree type
Compared to manual cutting with chainsaws, the TSX6 offers improved safety by allowing the operator to cut and hold trees from within the cab.
The goal is to enhance excavator versatility and productivity. The TSX6, combined with the SQ40 upgrade path, represents a significant step in that direction.
concluded Stefan Stockhaus.
