Terex Finlay, a global company in mobile crushing, screening, and conveying equipment, has introduced the electric-powered 883+ heavy-duty scalping screen, a new addition to its flagship 883+ model and a step forward in sustainable screening technology.
Designed for various primary and secondary screening applications, this machine is suited for industries such as quarrying, mining, iron ore processing, construction and demolition waste, sand, gravel, compost, topsoil, and coal.
The Finlay 883+ Electric scalper was developed in response to the growing demand for efficient and environmentally conscious equipment. Featuring an intelligent and adaptable power pack, the machine can operate directly from the electrical grid or via a genset. This dual-power capability enables flexible operation without sacrificing performance or application versatility. The fully electric drive system powers the feeder, screenbox, and conveyors, offering a practical solution for companies aiming to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining high productivity.

Continuing a focus on adaptable, operator-oriented solutions, Finlay has included several enhancements in the 883+ Electric scalper. One notable upgrade is the redesigned feeder, developed in response to feedback from the distribution network and end-users. It now includes hydraulically folding and locking extensions, enabling rear feeding with a wheel loader and improving flexibility in material handling. The hopper is constructed from wear-resistant steel and is available with optional linings to enhance durability in demanding environments.
Recognizing the importance of mobility, the 883+ Electric scalper is also equipped with an onboard engine for track movement, enabling relocation across job sites even when grid power is unavailable. This ensures users can reposition the equipment efficiently and with minimal disruption.
Key benefits of the electric variant include reduced operating costs when using grid electricity, a lower carbon footprint due to the elimination of direct CO₂ emissions, and quieter operation—particularly beneficial in urban or indoor settings. Electric drive systems also typically lead to decreased maintenance needs and extended service intervals, maximizing uptime and productivity.
As the flagship model, the 883+ has consistently set the benchmark for performance and versatility. The new electric variant represents a practical step forward for businesses striving to lower their environmental impact while continuing to rely on the proven performance and flexibility associated with Finlay equipment.
